Wakarusa
By SarahGrace, Sunday, January 24, 2010, 1 commentsI get a text every morning from the bf. It's usually "Good Morning" or "Hello" or something, but today it was "I have a new trip idea. I know this scares you. Wakarusa!" Considering he went to bed at 7 last night, I imagine he has been up since 5 researching music festivals. Since I respond, he calls and tells me about the festival. We have been to Bonnaroo twice now- together. He's been three or four times himself. I like Bonnaroo, but it is always a bit of a challenge for me. I'm not a big camper and I really like AC. But above all the absolute worse part of a music festival is the port-o-potties. I can handle no showers, no shaving, no AC, etc. but pooping on other ppl's poop while trying to "hover" is hell. So why would I want to go to Wakarusa?
The VIP tickets cost the same as a regular Bonnaroo ticket. VIP means real bathrooms, free showers, free catering, free beer, a shady place to camp- pretty much just awesomeness. And since we will both be in Memphis, it's only a few hours away in Ozark. It would be a much longer driver from Bham. It's a little bit smaller than 'Roo, with a more exclusive list of bands. There is always some one at Roo like Metallica or Nine Inch Nails that ruins it for me. The bands at Wakarusa are good but maybe too small to be booked by Roo at least in the same year (Railroad Earth, Boombox, Soundtribe, Blues Traveler). They are also my favorites of the jam bands. If Umphries is booked soon, I know we will definitely be going. Plus the festival is surrounded by hiking trails and ponds that you can actually go to during the festival. I can't believe the bf has gotten me excited about this. Both years at Roo I told myself I wouldn't go to another one of these. Someone pooped beside our car last year. Like a person squatted and pooped by our car. But I guess he knows me pretty well because the first explanation of the trip- was the VIP tickets. I think I can handle that.

sounds awesome
That sounds fantastic and It's so immature of me, but I giggled every time you wrote "poop" because it's just a funny looking word and sounds even funnier.
So thanks!
Have fun at the festival!
