Have you ever wished situations, big or small, in your life could have gone a little bit better? I’m an over-analyzer, over-thinker, obsessive thinker...you get the idea. Often times when I’m going over situations (with outcomes not to my liking) in my head, I forget to remember that sometimes I have been the one to blame. Sometimes I have not added sugar to my tea.
What is sugar in your tea, you ask? Think about this: Whenever you attend formal dinners or events at hotels, etc., a glass of tea is waiting on the table. It’s almost ALWAYS unsweetened. In my world, that’s a no-go. I need some sugar in my tea. Without that sugar, it’s just blah and not pleasing. But with that sugar, it goes down smooth and it keeps me smiling. It’s just tastes so much better, ya know?
Let’s bring you to the point. Today, my co-worker and I had a run-in with the parking security guard from hell. Right outside the building, there are cones lined up along the sidewalk, but we still use this area to unload our cars for work. It takes maybe 30 seconds, tops. Today, before we could get out to unload, the guard comes marching down the street with the ugliest look her face. We hurry and jump in the truck...dash off.
No problem, right?
Well, we still had to unload when we returned. My co-worker, who’s already had an altercation with the guard , is ready to aim and fire. I jump out and meet the guard with a big smile. Her? Not so much...
Even though her face was twisted like kids during a Twister game, I continued to keep my smile plastered on my face. I leveled with her (it’s hot, we’re only unloading temporarily, etc.) and before I knew it, she’d offered us our own parking spot to unload in the future.
See what a little sugar in your tea can do?
Try it sometime.
