It’s been a rainy week, but this morning the sun is out, the air is warming and the look on Jason Potter’s face says it’s about time. As he navigates the obscure passageways of AutoZone Park, it’s clear he loves his job as Marketing Director for the Memphis Redbirds, juggling decisions about everything from billboards to bobbleheas. Jason grew up in Memphis, a fan of the St. Lous Cardinals. “I grew up with Ozzie (smith), collected baseball cards....this is Cards country.” A plain-vanilla marketing major at Indiana, he thought sports marketing wasn’t something real people did,” though an internship with the Redbirds and a stint with the Grizzlies put him in the right spot to come to the Redbirds full-time. He loves opening the gates of the ballpark, seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces, greeting loyal fans from out of town.
“Quality time, that’s what we sell,” he says. “Not baseball tickets.”
The best thing about wearing a skirt? Uh, looking behind the camera at the office staff (making fun of me). No, wait; It gave me a way to celebrate the AutoZone Park experience for another audience.
The best thing about reading skirt? It provides a great forum for women’s conversation.
