The Lady Luck Issue

Is taking a risk the same thing as pressing your luck? Actually, I don’t think so. As someone who has reinvented herself at least a half-dozen times (and we’re just talking
about work; don’t get me started on haircuts), I think taking chances is what makes life really juicy, and the payoff can lead you to a place that’s better than you even
dreamed of. The flip side is that you can’t really see the chances you’re about to take until you’re right at the edge, and sometimes you’re pretty miserable by the time you
get there. The Memphis women I’ve profiled this month have all taken chances, but not without plenty of thoughtful analysis. Turns out it’s true: You need to look before
you leap. But don’t be scared to make the leap just the same.
