Ron Olson is way more than a DJ.

You’d recognize that voice anywhere: Teamed with longtime partner Karen Perrin on powerhouse FM-100 from the ungodly hour of 5 am until 10 am weekdays, Ron Olson keeps things interesting and well, you never know what he’ll say, which is, of course, what makes a DJ worth listening to. But it’s Ron’s other life that makes him such a fixture in Memphis: He’s raised millions of dollars in the more than 30 years he’s been on the radio for charities in his hometown, and especially loves working for Make-a-Wish, “because you can see the kids and families and the difference it makes.” If he hadn’t been a radio jock, what would he have wanted to be? “I really wanted to be a forest ranger or an FBI agent.”

The best thing about wearing a skirt: “The total freedom you have … it’s a powerful feeling.”

His favorite thing about reading skirt!: “It helps me stay in touch with women, the focal point of our radio show. I don’t want to miss anything!”
