The True Confessions Issue

Truthfully, it’s a little disconcerting becoming a public person in your own town. I was on local TV a lot in October talking about the launch of skirt!, and while most of the feedback I got was terrific, there were a few sour notes that made me wonder about telling all, even about something as public my work. The e-mail I got commenting on my fat, white legs during one morning show segment particularly stung. But true confessions are exactly what we’re asking from the local women we profile this month – secrets they keep, facts about their life and loves and past you might be surprised to learn. So in solidarity with Tran, Andria, Penny and Tanesha, here are three things you might be surprised to learn about me: I thought for a long time I’d never get married, much less have a child, though I have done both things, and am so glad I did. I long to move back to Europe, where I once lived for six months. And I’m trying not to care what strangers think of my legs.
